Ken Perlman is internationally known as a pioneer of a banjo style known as melodic clawhammer. Alan Jabbour began playing violin at age seven and put himself through college playing in symphony orchestras. He later became interested in and began documenting old-time fiddlers in the Upper South. Documentation turned to apprenticeship, and he relearned the fiddle in the style of the Upper South from musicians like Henry Reed. Together, these talented veteran musicians create an unusual delight. Jabbour and Perlman are among the most articulate musicians that old-time music has to offer.
