Keeping It "Green"
One of the key support services offered at Advent Christian Village is ACV Housekeeping Services. The busy team of 14 qualified housekeepers is led by Director of Housekeeping, Art Keeler, Jr. The team currently cleans 152 private Village residences and 25 Village facilities, as well as setting up for special events.
The philosophy of ACV Housekeeping is that clean is the best smell—not heavy perfumes or chemicals. All cleaning products used are “green,” are approved by OSHA and follow ACV safety standards.
Housekeeping is available to all Village residents, and is customized to their needs. It can be on a weekly or as-needed basis. General Housekeeping Services include vacuuming and washing floors, dusting, dishwashing, laundry, ironing, trash removal, cleaning of bathrooms, kitchens, inside windows, blinds and fans. They even flip mattresses. All this is offered at the rate of $16 per hour. Most residents requesting housekeeping require just an hour a week of services. Residents never pay their housekeeper directly, and instead are billed monthly.
The department also offers Specialty Services, which include floor waxing, carpet cleaning, packing and moving, outside window cleaning (first floor only) and after-hours call ins. These services are provided for $25 per hour.
Housekeepers frequently become important friends to Village members. The services they provide allow residents to remain in their home when they are no longer able to complete cleaning chores. Since they are in the home on a regular basis, it is sometimes a housekeeper that first notices changes in a resident’s functioning. Residents often receive more timely treatment because their housekeeper alerts medical personnel of status changes or health emergencies.
