ACV Honors Jim Humbles

Retired executive served ACV for 36 years

DOWLING PARK, FL— The Dowling Park community, along with friends and colleagues from near and far gathered in Rumph Dining Room on September 21 to pay tribute to James L. (Jim) Humbles, in honor of his retirement. Newly appointed President Craig Carter presents Jim Humbles with a plaque and gift from the staff of Advent Christian Village.Jim officially retired as President and CEO of Advent Christian Village on August 31. He served ACV in numerous capacities for 36 years, during which he become an expert in every area of the Village, from child care to nursing home administration. The mark that he left was evident in the crowd that came out to show their support. The reception was among the first to be held in the new Ann & Quinton Rumph Dining Room at the Phillips Center.

Following a time of greeting his guests, representatives from ACV as well as organizations from across the State of Florida honored Jim. Deputy Secretary Charles Corley presented Jim with a plaque from the Department of Elder Affairs. Representing Florida Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, President Janegale Boyd and Sr. Vice President for Public Policy Mary Ellen Early presented Jim with a clock, in honor of the time that he gave to Florida’s senior adults throughout his career. Representing the staff of ACV, newly appointed President Craig Carter presented Jim with both a plaque and a monetary gift, with the suggestion that the gift could go toward furnishing the new office that he is building in his home.

Concluding the reception, Jim addressed the crowd, showing his gratitude for the expressions of respect and friendship. He spoke affectionately of the staff and residents of ACV, as well as those that he worked with on the state level.

Jim and his wife Rosemary continue to make Dowling Park their home. Both of their daughters and their families live in Dowling Park and serve the community as well. Jim and each member of his family have had, and will continue to have a tremendous impact on ACV and the community at large.
