Live Nativity at Advent Christian Village

Few Americans would say they don’t know anything about the story of Christmas — the virgin birth, the star, a stable, angels singing. The story has been told in many ways over the years. How many times have we watched Linus explain what the season is really about in A Charlie Brown Christmas? Movies have been made about it. Christmas pageants are held every year in churches across the nation.

There’s a reason why the story is told over and over: It never stops being exciting. It’s a love story. It’s an adventure story. It’s a thriller. There are some  great special effects. It features animals. There’s a murder plot and a life-or-death escape. It’s magical. And it stars some very interesting people.

Advent Christian Village at Dowling Park (ACV) invites you to experience it all as a live production in an outdoor setting Tuesday, Nov. 29, Thursday, Dec. 1, and Friday, Dec. 2. Each production will begin at 7 p.m.

The live nativity, organized by ACV members Bud and Joyce Royal will be an engaging telling of the story the birth of Jesus Christ, and will take place on ACV’s grounds near the Harmony Center and Aquilla Smith pool at 10694 Buck Rogers Dr. Bring a chair and a blanket and watch as more than 40 ACV staff members, Village Church members, and Dowling Park residents reenact the beautiful and unique story in costume among elaborate sets (including live animals!).

Follow the tale of Mary and Joseph as they learn of Mary’s miraculous pregnancy, and their subsequent need to travel to Bethlehem. Watch as the shepherds learn of the birth of the King of the Jews from a multitude of heavenly hosts. Rejoice along with the wise men who travel from afar.

The story will take less than 30 minutes, but come early as the many actors will be interacting with the attendees prior to the show each night.

There is no charge to attend. For more information, call (386) 658-5400.
