Chief Financial Officer

Job Description:

The Advent Christian Village chief financial officer is a senior-level vice president position that reports directly to the president / CEO. The CFO provides sound financial leadership; works to fulfill the mission and purpose of Advent Christian Village and its subsidiary companies and corporations; and guards and proclaims the values of Advent Christian Village as a Christian, not-for-profit, 501(C3), charitable organization with a $25M annual budget.

The ideal candidate will be a mission driven, ministry focused, skilled executive responsible for the organization’s corporate compliance, risk management, financial management, and accounting systems to assure that pertinent information is available for presentation to management, staff, benefactors, auditors, and the Board of Directors.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • assure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
  • develop / implement / administer fiscal policy and internal control procedures
  • maintain accurate financial records
  • prepare periodic financial reports and statements and ensure they accurately represent the financial position of the organization
  • design routine or ad hoc financial reports as requested to support, enhance, or evaluate functioning of various aspects of the organization
  • prepare government reports and ensure timely filings as required
  • oversee investments
  • manage the budgeting process and cash flow
  • must be familiar with Medicaid, Medicare, and HUD procedures
  • provide financial management for healthcare entities and retail operations
  • assist in general audits as required by funding sources
  • ensure payroll, purchasing, and accounts payable are managed for fiscal responsibility
  • manage corporate compliance and function as corporate compliance officer
  • responsible for overall risk management for the organization

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business with emphasis in relevant field required; MBA a plus; extensive knowledge and experience in the use of spreadsheet and accounting software required. Must be an effective communicator (written and verbally) with strong analytical, critical, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
