Favorite Holiday Traditions at Advent Christian Village

During the month of December, Advent Christian Village is transformed with holiday magic. From cheerful decorations to musical performances, our community always looks forward to everything the Christmas season brings.  We’re proud to host several favorite holiday traditions that attract our community members as well as those living in the surrounding area. Ready to experience everything our festive community has to offer? Here are a few favorite holiday traditions you’ll find at Advent Christian Village.

Annual Christmas Tree Lighting

On the first Sunday of December, we kick off the month’s festivities with a beloved tradition: a classic Christmas tree lighting. There are three main events of the evening. First, the singing of Christmas carols followed by our magnificent Christmas tree lighting. Finally, the evening is concluded by a brief service with light refreshments at the Village Church and a walk around campus to view the spectacular lights to mark the beginning of the holiday season.

ACV’s “Parade on Wheels”

At the Parade on Wheels, ACV’S annual on-campus parade, golf carts, bicycles, scooters or anything else on wheels are welcome to participate. It is typically held during the week before Christmas, and is attended by residents, staff and local community members alike. You’ll find no shortage of fun, festive and downright funny “floats” on the street during this favorite event.

Christmas Caroling at GSC and Dacier

Each year, ACV members and staff look forward to singing Christmas carols at our skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. The merry and bright songs bring joy to the residents and the singers with equal measure. It’s a beautiful way to share the holiday season while creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Christmas Day Noon Buffet

While ACV’s Christmas Day Noon Buffet may not feature figgy pudding, it does feature a great menu of delicious holiday food. At the much-anticipated buffet, residents are served and greeted by ACV management and staff to ensure a warm and joyful day for all. This meal is also offered at no cost to members, so no one has to eat Christmas dinner alone. This favorite holiday tradition may be one of the most delicious – and beloved – at Advent Christian Village.

Village Church Christmas Cantata

Finally, the Village Church Christmas Cantata is another one of our community’s favorite holiday traditions. A cantata is piece of music written for vocal performance, and this production truly brings the spirit of the holiday season. Prepare to experience the true meaning of Christmas.
