Up Next: Wayne’s World of Retirement

Wayne Hinrichs retired on Friday, June 28, after 32 years of service at Advent Christian Village. Wayne was born and raised in Dixon, Illinois. He worked as a farmer before moving to Florida in 1987 to start his career at ACV.

Wayne’s first role at ACV was Director of Camp Suwannee. During that time, his duties consisted of maintaining the facilities as needed, organizing the camp schedule and activities, managing the upkeep of the yard work, cooking for the campers and more.

It was November 2004 that Wayne transferred to Dowling Park Development, where he became Project Manager. One of Wayne’s first assignments in this role was managing the processing of building new homes being built in River Woods. He continued managing various projects and also handled inspections did some drafting for ACV.

Wayne met his wife, Darleen, at ACV and the two wed in 2005.

Not only has Wayne been a valued employee, he is also a valued member to the community. He is active in the Village Church choir and drama. Wayne has been a member of the Village Fire Team and one of the Fire Coordinators since 2004. This entails being first on the scene when a fire alarm goes off and determine whether there is an actual fire or not. Thankfully, there haven’t been many during his tenure.

Wayne has entertained coworkers, friends and community members with his sense of humor during his time at ACV. He has always put a smile on peoples’ faces and shares a laugh whenever possible.

Wayne has two children, two step-children and 10 grandchildren. He and Darleen have plans to travel and visit family members during his retirement. Wayne also plans to play golf, continue his property management for some homeowners and he will enjoy having more time for carpentry and handyman services.

We wish you the best in your retirement, Wayne!
